Release 5.1

IMF for ArcIMS version 5.1 is a continuation of version 5.0, that requires no changes to XML configuration files created in version 5.0. Numerous minor enhancements and bug fixes have been made. Major changes include:

ArcIMS 9.1 support

In ArcIMS version 9.1, ESRI added support for queryable dynamic layers, and introduced several problems related to some SDE database implemenations. IMF 5.1 provides internal workarounds to the SDE problem and powerful new routines related to dynamic layers.

Upload Dynamic Layers

A new routine to use instead of the acetate type of upload shapefile has been provided to use the layer as a dynamic layer instead.

Dynamic Layers in layer configuration XML

Dynamic layers can be defined in the layer configuration XML file to include layers in your application that have not been included in the ArcIMS service.

Database linking

You can now define links to data in external databases that relate to your feature layers. Linked data can be defined to show in IMF's default identify and select reports, or queried like any other tablular data.

WYSIWYG printing routine

An alternative, template driven printing routine has been created to preview the extent and content of the printed map before printing. It is intended to work with a secondary ArcIMS service to enable it to show data at scales that may not show at the same scale in the viewer application.
